This week I made the journey to Atlanta, Georgia for the annual CompTIA ChannelCon event! Much to my joy, they had unlimited coffee.
ChannelCon provides educational workshops for educators who want to prepare their students for CompTIA certifications. Managed Service Providers (MSP) are also a key focus of the event, with at least half of the workshops being geared towards them.
What I found fascinating was this year’s emphasis on AI.
CompTIA’s CEO, Todd Thibodeaux, kicked off the event by announcing SecAI+, PenTestAI+, and SecOT+. Known as “Expansions” these additional certifications are designed for career professionals who wish to specialize, to expand their base knowledge to include another field such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Operational Technology (OT).
For example, the SecAI+ and SecOT+ are expansions on the Security+ certification. After someone earns the Security+ certification they will then have the option to continue learning by earning the SecAI+ and/or the SecOT+ expansion.
CompTIA’s CEO Todd Thibodeaux also touched on their upcoming AI Essentials certification, describing it as a good starting place for anyone in any field who wants to learn about AI.
My conclusion: Once more details about these upcoming CompTIA certifications are released I must create training materials to help prepare everyone for the exams. ☺️
